# PartManager

> PartManager is a web-based bill of materials (BOM) and engineering data management tool for mechanical engineering teams. It keeps each project's parts, 2D drawings, 3D part files, assemblies, vendors and design versions in one place, and runs in any browser on desktop or mobile.

## What it does
- BOM management: part number, name, make or buy (manufactured vs ready-made/bought-out), material, finish, revision, tags, quantity needed, quantity in hand, unit cost and total cost, with CSV import and export.
- In-browser 3D viewer for STEP, STP, IGES, BREP, STL, OBJ, GLB, 3MF, PLY and FBX files — no CAD licence needed. PDF and image drawings are shown inline.
- Assemblies: upload an assembly's 3D file, map bodies to BOM parts by clicking or auto-mapping by part number, and highlight where any part fits.
- Vendor tracking: which vendor has which part, date sent, expected date, partial and complete receipts, overdue parts.
- Design releases (version control for complete designs): upload a ZIP/RAR/7Z of all CAD parts, assemblies and drawings, up to 2 GB, with change notes; mark the final version; notify the team by email. Works with any CAD tool that can export a project folder or zip.
- Team management: company account with admins and members; members see only the projects allocated to them, with edit or view-only access.
- Passwordless login with one-time codes sent by email.
- Global search across parts, projects, assemblies and vendors.

## Who it is for
Special purpose machine (SPM) builders, fabrication and machining shops, tool rooms, automation and conveyor manufacturers, product design teams and mechanical design consultancies — teams that design mechanical assemblies and get parts made by outside vendors.
