New Pack and Go version control

Every part, drawing and vendor — in one BOM.

PartManager is the bill of materials tool for mechanical engineering teams. Track what to make or buy, who has each part, what it costs, and see exactly where it fits in the 3D assembly.

Features

Everything a mechanical project needs, nothing it doesn't

Replace the BOM spreadsheet, the shared drive full of drawings and the WhatsApp follow-ups with vendors.

BOM that tracks itself

Every part with its part number, material, quantity needed and quantity in hand, cost and status. Import from CSV in seconds.

3D viewer in the browser

Open STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, GLB and 3MF files on any device. No CAD licence needed to check a part.

See where a part fits

Upload the assembly once, map parts by clicking or auto-map by part number, then highlight any part inside the assembly.

Vendor tracking

Know which vendor has which part, when it was sent, when it is due, and what is overdue — per project and per vendor.

Pack and Go versions

Upload a SolidWorks Pack and Go zip for every design freeze, with notes on what changed. Mark the final version in one click.

Make or buy

Separate manufactured parts from ready-made, bought-out items like bearings and fasteners, and filter the BOM by either.

Team access by project

Add your team and allocate projects. Members see only their projects, with edit or view-only access.

Login with an email code

No passwords to forget or leak. Everyone signs in with a one-time code sent to their work email.

Works on the shop floor

Fully mobile friendly. Update quantities received, check a drawing or open a 3D part from your phone.

How it works

Up and running in an afternoon

Register your company

Enter your company details and verify your email with a one-time code. Add your team and choose who sees which project.

Build the BOM

Import a CSV or add parts one by one. Attach each part's 2D drawing and 3D file, mark it make or buy, and add tags.

Send, track, release

Assign parts to vendors, update quantities as they arrive, map them onto the assembly, and upload each Pack and Go version.

Version control

Know which design is final. Always.

No more "final_v3_latest_REAL.zip". Every design freeze gets its own version with a note on what changed, and the whole team sees which one is final.

  • Pack and Go zips up to 2 GB upload reliably in chunks, even on slow connections.
  • Mark the final version so the shop floor always builds the right revision.
  • Email the team automatically when a new version is released.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is PartManager?

PartManager is a web-based tool for mechanical engineering teams to manage a project's bill of materials (BOM), 2D drawings, 3D part files, assemblies, vendors and design versions in one place. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install.

Who is PartManager for?

It is built for special purpose machine (SPM) builders, fabrication and machining shops, tool rooms, product design teams and design consultancies — any team that designs mechanical assemblies and gets parts made by vendors.

Can I view STEP files online without CAD software?

Yes. PartManager opens STEP (.step, .stp), IGES, BREP, STL, OBJ, GLB, 3MF, PLY and FBX files directly in the browser, on desktop or mobile. Native CAD files such as SLDPRT or IPT are stored for download.

How does version control for SolidWorks Pack and Go work?

Each time you freeze a design, upload the Pack and Go zip (ZIP, RAR or 7Z, up to 2 GB) with a version name and a note on what changed. All versions stay in a timeline, one can be marked as final, and the team can be emailed automatically.

Can I see where a part fits in the assembly?

Yes. Upload the assembly's 3D file, then map each body to a BOM part by clicking it or with auto-map by part number. From any part in the BOM, "Show in 3D" opens the assembly with that part highlighted.

How do I track which vendor has which part?

Assign a vendor to each part (or to many at once), with the date sent and the expected date. Quantities received update the status automatically: not sent, at vendor, partial or complete. Each vendor has a page listing what is still pending or overdue.

Can I import my existing BOM?

Yes. Import a CSV exported from Excel or your CAD tool. Columns like Part No, Name, Qty, Material, Make/Buy, Unit Cost and Tags are recognised automatically, and you can export the BOM back to CSV at any time.

Does my team need passwords?

No. Users sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. Organisation admins add team members and choose which projects each person can see and edit.
